"Clay is a beautifully complex material. It’s sturdy yet fragile, malleable yet rigid, compliant yet stubborn. In many ways, it mirrors my own creative journey: introspective and always evolving towards acceptance.”

Madre de Deus works from an atelier in Bairro Alto, Lisbon, when she does not surf or hick along Portugal’s stunning coastlines. Madre has a dual degree in Fine Arts & Fashion and Design & Creation. After seven years immersed in the world of luxury fashion & haute couture in Paris, she returned to Portugal drawn to something more grounded: clay. Find her at the potter’s wheel shaping pieces where her design edge blends with her country’s heritage. Her mentor in ceramics was #InesSalgado.
Madre’s artistic practice extends to painting, sewing, and building hybrid 3D constructions.
