Campolide. Beneath an Aqueduct. Beyond the Crowds.

The secret enclave on the top of West Lisbon, Campolide, seats above Campo do Ourique and Estrela, at the feet of the historical landmark, the Aqueduct of Free Waters (Aqueduto das Águas Livres), one of the most remarkable examples of 18th-century Portuguese engineering.

It also hides behind the irreverent eighty iconic shopping mall Amoreiras which The New York Times in its edition of 4th of May 1986, describes as such: “The Towers of Amoreiras, with pink and blue turrets and black glass bastions, form Lisbon's newest - and most controversial - office-apartment-hotel complex cum shopping mall. A modern version of the Oriental bazaar, the Amoreiras shopping mall is said to be the largest one on the Iberian Peninsula and the fourth largest in Europe.”
